Artifact 1 TPE 2: Monitoring Student Learning During Instruction
For Article 1 I have included a picture of formative assessment I use during an 8th grade waves lesson, and also a student sample. I use the information gathered from student answers to determine if students are moving toward the learning goal. The goal of the lesson is to have students meet or exceed the following state standard: MS-PS4-1. Use mathematical representations to describe a simple model for waves that includes how the amplitude of a wave is related to the energy in a wave. The two graphs are mathematical representations of sounds waves. Students need to be able to identify and describe the characteristics of a wave model (i.e. frequency, wave length, and amplitude) and demonstrate understanding of the relationship between amplitude and energy. I reviewed student answers to monitor student learning during instruction.
